The Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art presents dennis campay and Steven Steinman to launch the 2018 exhibition year.
Two artists’ bodies of work that initially seem unrelated find common ground in Lost Parts and Found Narratives. This joint exhibition explores a selection of paintings by dennis campay (Atlanta, GA/Jacksonville, FL) and metalwork sculptures by Steven Steinman (Atlanta, GA). The autobiographical, symbolic works by Campay present scenarios that are very personal but still invite each viewer to discover their own significance. Steinman focuses on human consumption, waste, and repurposing with his circular sculptures made of found materials. Both Campay and Steinman implement concepts of recycling and re-presentation; in doing so, both explore the dynamic role of the creator in bringing meaning to a piece of art.
Alfred Conteh - Dylan Pierce
Alfred Conteh: Visions of a Cultural Commentator is a retrospective exhibition of the Atlanta artist’s body of work, which encompasses realistic portraiture and symbolic abstraction. This exhibition explores the evolving methods and themes throughout Conteh’s career, but also aims to expand understanding of the dynamic and complicated Black American experience. Conteh’s subject matter, colors, textures, and patterns coalesce to generate a deeply emotional and topical conversation. www.alfredconteh.com
Dylan Pierce is a Marietta-born painter currently living and working in Atlanta.
