TEEN DRAWING & PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT AGES 13-18
Winter 2019: January 26 - March 9, 2019 (no class February 23)
Spring 2019: April 13 - May 18, 2019
Time: Saturdays 10:00am-11:30am
Instructor: Melanie Ponchot
A drawing class geared toward teenage artists (13-18) looking to develop their portfolio, mature their technique, and strengthen foundational drawing skills. This course is an excellent choice for high school AP Studio Art students needing to boost their work and experiment with their portfolios.
Students work in an individual project-based format. The traditional principles of drawing are incorporated, and each project moves students further along in their development. We draw from life whenever possible, and also work from photo references. We incorporate classical techniques but also experiment to benefit student creativity.
Beginner to intermediate students draft outlines with grids to learn and aid with proportional perspective. We will work large (18" x 24") and focus our materials on graphite/charcoal to build a good understanding of value before we move on to color.
**More sessions to come, no two sessions are alike. Please feel free to join any session as lessons are project orientated and progressive, each building on the last **
